Feb 4, 2019
Score
INDIANS: 25
CUMBERLAND VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL: 18

Last night the JV girls' basketball team claimed a victory against Eagle View during their last HOME game of the season. The Maidens won with a score of 25-18. Jayla Bell and Za'Mariah Diggs were high scorers for the Maidens with Bell at 10 points and Diggs with 7. Mckenzie Bittinger added 4 points, Gracie French had 3, and Haley Santos added 1. Six different Maidens grabbed steals with French leading the pack with 4. Bell followed with 3, Diggs had 2, and Bittinger, Bella Ruefle, and Amaya Taylor each added 1. The Maidens totaled 29 rebounds for the game with Bittinger bringing down the most with 7. Bell added 5 boards, French and Michaela Whitney each grabbed 4, Diggs had 3, Haven King and Ruefle each added 2, and Taylor and Santos added 1 apiece. The girls have reached the point in the season where they are understanding the game and are able to be put into different substitution positions without confusion. They each also have their own strengths. Amaya Taylor plays aggressive defense and she did well at the end of the game when we needed to prevent an open 3-point shot. Bell, French, and Diggs have done a nice job all year in the guard positions and are trying hard to recognize when our post players are open underneath. Bell offensively supported the team all year and will only continue to grow as a fantastic player. When I need some steals Ruefle is who I want at the top of the key. The most supportive player on the entire team is MacKenzie Monn who is always quick to smile and is willing to fill any role. Santos, new to the game, has worked hard all season and will continue to improve in the post position. Savannah Brosius, also new to the game, is always asking questions to improve her knowledge. She had a good season for us in the guard position. I could always count on Haven King to come up with rebounds when we needed them. Michaela Whitney, as she continues to become more aggressive, will be a huge asset to her future teams underneath the basket. Mckenzie Bittinger was a total team player, never complaining when she was wide open underneath but we couldn't seem to get her the ball. She did an excellent job all season rebounding and made some crucial shots when we needed them.
